Arts & Crafts Center
Our Arts and Crafts Center does more than just crafts! We offer a variety of programs and services including a do-it-yourself Wood Hobby Shop and Auto Hobby Shop, Custom Frame Shop with large-format canvas and photo-quality printing services, lamination services, customizable frames and a do-it-yourself frame area. We also offer private events from birthday parties, girls nights or squadron parties. We can customize the event to fit your needs.
Our Engraving and Awards Shop is stocked with a large inventory of recognition awards and gift items – perfect for all occasions.
Instructional classes cover a gamut of crafting tutorials from ceramics, pottery classes, home decor crafts, wreath-making, canvas painting, woodworking and more! New classes are always being added – check out the event calendar below to stay on top of what’s next!

Our studio is perfect for birthday parties, bridal showers, team-building, holiday parties, and more! In a private visual arts party, our instructor will provide step-by-step guidance on a pre-selected activity. This activity can be based on a theme or idea. Let’s brain storm together! Guests are welcome to bring treats, drinks, or any personalized decorations.

Crafternoon
Join us for Crafternoon on the first Saturday of every month from 12–4pm and enjoy an afternoon of hands-on creativity at the Arts & Crafts Center. Explore painting, ceramics, Cricut projects, and more!
$5 per hour, plus the cost of supplies.

Studio Rentals
Host your next birthday party, squadron event, or special gathering at the Arts & Crafts Center. Guests may bring decorations, cake, food, and non-alcoholic beverages, and rentals can be paired with painting, ceramics, and other hands-on craft activities for both kids and adults.
WOOD SHOP FEATURE SECTION
About the Wood Shop
McConnell’s Wood Shop is a self-help facility. Safety, education, equipment and tools are provided so you have what you need to get your project done! After safety qualifications have been met, you’ll have access to a variety of equipment to meet your beginner, novice or expert-level woodworking needs: sanders, lathes, planers, routers, band saw, drills and much more. The shop has instructional classes for all levels of woodworking. The shop also features a CNC Piranha for customer use which features interchangeable routing laser etching.
The hourly fee is only $6 and there is an $80 monthly fee which may save money if you use the shop regularly.

Engraving
Personalize your items at the Engraving Shop, or order gifts and awards to celebrate a special occasion. Make the Arts & Crafts Shop your one-stop-shop for employee recognition, birthday, or going away gifts.
Framing
Have a special piece of artwork, photography, or memorabilia that you’d like to commemorate? From pictures, certificates, artwork, to medals, shadow boxes, and once a whole airplane propeller, we’ve got you covered! We have a huge selection of frame moldings, and mat colors/textures to help you find the perfect presentation for your home or office.
Sublimation
Sublimation prints allow us to transfer one of your beautiful photos, custom graphics, or even artwork to one of the many objects that have a specially treated surface through high heat and pressure. Once transferred the image can’t be rubbed off, won’t peel, or scratch away!
Woodworking
McConnell’s Wood Shop gives you access to professional woodworking tools, equipment, and expert guidance to help bring your project from start to finish. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced woodworker, our instructor can help you build, create, and learn using equipment like lathes, planers, saws, routers, and even a CNC Piranha with laser etching capabilities.
Meet the Artist
Josh Smith is an active duty Airman stationed at McConnell Air Force Base who discovered painting as a creative outlet to unwind and recharge outside of work. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Josh has been stationed at McConnell for the past two years and enjoys spending his free time creating artwork that helps him relax and disconnect from the fast pace of military life. He and his wife currently have one child, with another on the way, and much of his creative inspiration comes from balancing family life with his military career.
His artwork focuses on landscapes, aviation-inspired pieces, and abstract acrylic paintings that reflect both the structure of military life and the quieter moments away from it. This month’s featured collection showcases several of his original canvas paintings created during his off-duty time at the Arts & Crafts Center, where he enjoys experimenting with color, texture, and new techniques.
