MFRC: Senior Transition Assistance Program Workshop (TAP)

Overview of TAP:
TAP is a congressionally mandated program aimed at helping military personnel prepare for civilian careers after their service ends. The program provides guidance on topics like job searching, resume writing, networking, financial planning, and more, making the transition smoother and more successful. TAP is structured to meet the needs of various service members, and it is divided into separate days focused on different agencies.
TAP Workshop Structure:
Day 1: Department of Defense (DoD) Day
Focus: Introduction to the transition process, covering topics such cultural norms for military and civilian life, interest profiling for career decisions, financial planning, and more.
Day 2: Veterans Affairs (VA) Day
Focus: Providing information about VA benefits, including healthcare, education, and disability compensation.
Day 3: Department of Labor (DoL) Day
Focus: Information on employment opportunities, job-searching resources, and career development. This day prepares service members for civilian employment and highlights programs that support their job search efforts.
Senior TAP:
Eligibility: Senior TAP workshops are open to enlisted military members E7 and above and officers O4 and above.
Purpose: This specialized version of TAP is tailored for senior service members who are transitioning after a long career, offering more in-depth guidance on leadership transition, retirement planning, and adapting to civilian leadership roles.
