10 Steps to Federal Employment Want to learn how to apply for federal employment. This workshop covers a variety of topics such as;  Federal Service, researching job announcements, pay scales, writing a resume and proper procedures for applying for positions thru USAJOBS.com. Learn the “Ins and Outs” of navigating the Federal job system.  Learn how to prepare the right resume format, targeting the correct job title and grade.  Participants are encouraged to bring a Federal job vacancy announcement of their interest.  Call 759-6020 to enroll.

Individual Transition Plan  The Individual Transition Plan (ITP) is your game plan for a successful transition to civilian life.  It is a framework you can use to fulfill realistic career goals based upon your unique skills, knowledge, experience and abilities.  The ITP is not an official form.  It is something you create by yourself, for yourself.  Call 759-6020 for more information.

Pre-Separation Counseling  Military personnel are required to receive pre-separation counseling no less than 90 days prior to leaving active duty. We strongly recommend that you set up a pre-separation counseling appointment at least 180 days prior to separation. You will complete DD Form 2648, “Pre-separation Counseling Checklist.”  Call 759-6020 for more information.

Resume Writing and Application  Learn how to package, market and sell yourself in this competitive world. Job Seekers will learn how to create an effective resume and produce a near to perfect document.  Have available your VMET document, EPR’S, appraisals to build an effective resume.  Call 759-6020 for more information.

Small Business Workshop  The Small Business Administration’s (SBA) “Boots-to-Business,” is a 2 day workshop held throughout the year (See below for dates) at A&FRC, BLDG 732, from 8:30am-4:30pm. Participants will create a feasibility analysis deliverable that will serve as the basis for future business planning efforts. It is designed to assist you in developing an actionable plan for subsequent efforst focused on launching a new venture.

Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) • The partnership is a solution to assist spouses in finding and maintaining employment to achieve their career goals, despite the challenges of frequent relocation.  Military spouses can find jobs and career opportunities by logging in to the Military Spouse Employment Partnership Career Portal.  Website: https://msepjobs.militaryonesource.mil/msep/

Transition Assistance Program  TAP or Transition GPS, is a 5-day workshop to assist service members who are separating, retiring, or being released from active duty with their transition to the civilian sector.

Participants will complete a Pre-Separation counseling to develop an individual transition plan (ITP) and identify their career planning needs.  They will also attend the DOL Employment Workshop, which focuses on the mechanis of obtaining employment in today’s job market and includes resume preparation and interview skills practice.  Lastly, they will attend the VA benefits I and II, which explain what benefits the service member has earned and how to obtain them.
