Layette Program • E-5 & below can receive a free layette for your new baby! Simply bring in proof that you have registered your baby in DEERS.
Girl Meets Dress • A FREE dress loan program that provides McConnell AFB Airmen, DOD Civilians, spouses, and their families the opportunity to borrow the perfect dress. For special occasions, such as: Promotions, ALS Graduations, USAF Ball, Holiday Parties, Homecoming, Proms, etc. This program is open to all ranks Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, Retirees, DOD Civilians and Dependents. May borrow item for 1 month prior to event and return item 2 weeks after event. Dress must be returned dry cleaned.
Located in BLDG 338, the Airman’s Attic.

Key Spouses • Each McConnell squadron has at least one volunteer KEY SPOUSE—selected by the squadron commander. The role of the Key Spouse is to offer assistance to families during crisis or difficulty and provide family readiness information and feed-back. Key Spouses welcome incoming unit members and their families, and refer Air Force and squadron policy–related questions to the First Sergeant and Commander. They are a resource for our families… and they are ready and eager to help you.
Resource Center • There are five computers (3 are .com computers and 2 are .gov computers)
AFRC Monthly Newsletter • Each month a newsletter is available to explain services available to Hearts Apart families.Monthly Event — Each month there is a special activity for Hearts Apart families designed to bring families together that experiencing the hardship of separation. Every event is free and includes a meal.
Hero Dolls • The A&FRC, with the help of volunteers, will make a free doll for children who have a deployed parent.Hero Dolls are available to all McConnell AFB familie; KS National Guard families; and Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force Reserve families serving in Kansas. Limit is one doll per child in immediate family.
To receive a doll:
- Take a photo of the deployed/deploying military member.
- Be sure the camera is set to 3.0 mega pixels or higher. For best results, turn the camera so the frame is up and down (vertical/portrait).
- Subject should stand with arms relaxed by their side and take up most of the frame (without cutting off their toes!).
- E-mail the photo and the name of each child to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
