Teenage Summer Reading Program: Blankets for Wichita Children’s Home
July 12, 2017 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The McConnell AFB Library is celebrating our two themes for the 2017 Summer Reading Program: “Reading By Design” and “Build a Better World!” Throughout the summer, we will host a variety of programs for our patrons to enjoy. Our Teenage Summer Reading Program covers children in grades 6 – 12. Programs will occur every Wednesday through 28 July at 2 p.m. (with the exception of 5 July). All programs take place in the Youth Center unless otherwise noted. All programs are free, but registration in the Summer Reading Program is required.
On Wednesday, 12 July, we’ll be making blankets for Wichita Children’s Home! Join us in the Youth Center as we teach you how to make blankets out of fleece material. The blankets we make during this class will then be collected and donated to needy kids in the Wichita Children’s Home. The program begins at 2 p.m. and is geared toward children in grades 6 – 12. This event is free. For more information, call the Library at (316) 759-4207.
Earn prizes and help the Base Library work toward their goal of 1.3 million minutes read by registering for the Summer Reading Program! Pick up your registration form from the Library, then log your minutes at https://mcconnellafblibrary.beanstack.org. The 2017 Summer Reading Program is open to pre-readers through adults. For more information, call the Library at (316) 759-4207.
The 2017 Summer Reading Program is sponsored by Holy Cross School and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers. Additional support provided by the Levand Trust and the South Central Kansas Library System.
