Stand Up for Rosa Parks Essay Challenge
“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.”
“Each person must live their life as a model for others.”
“Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others.”
Rosa Parks had the courage to stand up for injustice and changed American history in the process. To recognize how Rosa stayed seated and showed a nation her dauntless bravery, the Youth Center will honor her spirit through “Stand Up for Rosa.” Children ages 9 – 18 are invited to write a poem about Rosa’s life, whether it be about her character, leadership skills, accomplishments, or personal life. A panel of judges will read each poem, and the winner will receive a prize. Poems must be turned in to the Youth Center by 28 February. For more information, call the Youth Center at (316) 759-4070.
